About the files

Moove being an open source software,
you have
no choice but to handle files
if you want your virtual life to bloom into what it could be.
The first thing to know about files handling in Moove is this: Unless you specified another location, Moove files are directly on drive C of your computer, that is
C:moove/Actors or
C:moove/Showcases/postures
or C:moove/Outfits/Hair Styles
and so on...

.actor files go in C:moove/Actors ; .outfits files go in C:moove/outfits ; posture files (.thumb AND .post) go in C:moove/Showcases/Postures.

The files can be dropped directly in the folder, or in any subfolder... ). And, of course, all zipped files must be unzipped, uncompressed first.
If you don't have a certain furniture file, or if it has not been put in the right folder, you won't see
that furniture in the room you are visiting. If it's an outfit file you are missing, you will be
seing
Green and black boxes on other actors. That's normal (Well, not normal, but say... usual... see further down...)
The more files you have, the easier you can see everyone and everything in this world. So you actually want to download the more files you can, wherever, however and from whoever. BUT ... of course, there is another point de vue... Well Moove is not that simple (it can even get dramatic LOL!). Actually, it's a fact, you need the more files possible, and want to download them so you can live normally in Moove, but then, some designers (who are independant from Moove) sometimes get very angry if we share files between users. They prefer that people go directly on their Web site to download the files. Especially if they are items that are sold (hmmm, if you have any file starting by LD, you may wonder if you're not better to go on LD's website to go download it yourself) ...BTW, you have to be a paying member (of Moove) to buy. The files are in fact supposed to download directly, I mean automatically, when you visit someone or when someone visits you. But it does not always, or it takes forever. So everyone make ZIP or RAR folders (compressed) with the content of their room, you download it or receive it... then you end up with files that might have been bought to start with... so you might end up with files that a designer is going to go mad about you having for free... but that's the way it is. The Next Generation of Moove, after the upcoming upgrade, files should download faster.
Where to download files?

There are
different type of files relating to either clothings or to the... behavior, let's say, of you actor, or relating to different furniture and other things you can come across in the Moove World.

Each type of
files must be put in a specific folder of Moove files on your computer for it to work, be seen, used... wathever the file must be.
See the Moove files types. (well... that page is not yet written folks, so this is not actually a link, sorry)

It is also very important to note that:
the same files also come in
various format as Moove evolved through the years (or wathever the reason). This is actually pretty confusing, even for me still, but some basic facts have to be laid out:

there are
compressed (zipped) files. Those have to be extracted first, whatever is in it.
More on compressed (zipped) files. (Not available yet, sorry)

The compressed folders most often contain one of the following format of files
(the following are all files which you can also be sent, downloaded or received directly, without compressing) :

Click on the file format or type to learn more (links not yet available, sorry).

.MPZ files (auto-install; no need to restart Moove).
Just double-click the file to use the item. It can be a studio actor (full dressed or nude...), it could be an ACT file, (that is an actor you cannot modify in actor studio), or it could be a piece of furniture, an outfit, a face...hair... it could be wathever.

The MPZ installs the needed file somewhere automaticly. But we don't know where exactly, it depends. The only certitude is that the item is available someplace in Moove: in actor studio, in add furniture...decorations, furniture or gadgets, or else in C:moove/Actors if it's an actor... or else... LOL

.ACT files (has to be imported if not in MPZ format). This is older Moove technologie (or wathever... it's not usual anymore. You need the import tool or import individually when in Roomancer) (see Moove's shop/ miscellaneous)

.actor .outfit files (basic Moove files; handle manually.)
These files go in C:moove/Actors or in C:moove/Outfits. You paste the file in there directly or, preferably, in a subfolder either already there, either you create there... Moove's usual file mess gets at it here ;-) Well... I don't help it by mixing two file types in one paragraph... .actor and .outfit files are very different...
Place the files in C:moove/Outfits, or in C:moove/Actors so that the software can read it the next time it starts (that is important to remember... re-start, reboot), AND put it somewhere you will find it when you need it (talking here about subfolders you can create)
yes, you can create subfolders, I mean you should ;-)

.post .thumb files (basic posture or expression files)
These go in C:moove/Showcases/Postures Same applies here, you can make subfolders. You need the .post for the posture, and the .thumb to see it displayed in the postures window when in Moove. Paste both kind of files in the same sub-folder.

.jpg .bmp files (texture files for actors, furniture, outfits... or images on walls images displayed somehow somewhere in Moove. If for furniture, actor, outfits, faces... they go in C:moove/Art/JPG or in C:moove/Art/BMP (place in any folder named from a to z or directly in the JPG or BMP folder... but make sure JPG's are in JPG folder...
If for a Moove house wall, they go same place (Picture hanging on wall) or in C:moove/Paints if used as wall painter)

Some of the above mentioned files need a re-start of the Moove software to be fully functionnal (When in Moove, re-start the Roomancer software often, that's a good trick...), some others don't need a re-start and can be used right away. It's the case of the posture files. Any outfits files needs for sure to be read by the Roomancer software. The easiest way to do that is to re-start Roomancer. There are others ways, but... that's another chapter.

P.S. Roomancer, Moove, Rose, it's kind of all the same thing... talking here on this page about the Roomancer sowtware downloaded on your computer... the software that has to be rebooted often
